Why work?

At times like these most people are not thinking about the philosophical significance of having a job, but this article in the Guardian does just that:

The article states that most people will spend a third of their lives working. Through an exploration of the etymology of the word, a history of the concept of working, jobs and labour, the author explores the importance of work in our society.

Ultimately he questions whether the current emergency is an ideal opportunity to rethink the significance of work and the role it plays in our daily lives.
