Free CV Review

The most popular post on this blog is (by a long way) Is Your CV Holding you Back? and another popular one is How not Too Write a CV

Everyone wants to write a good CV and be invited for an interview. Your CV is an opportunity to introduce yourself to a potential employer; naturally you want to make a good impression.

It is therefore no wonder that so many people are lured by online websites that offer a “Free CV Review.”

However, it is important to exercise some caution before you decide to use these sites. In the past we have had clients who have come to us after using one of these online sites- frequently very distressed, because they have submitted their CV for review online and it has been returned to them with loads of unconstructive criticism and a note saying that they need to pay a lot of money for it to be fixed.

The expression “there is no such thing as a free lunch” instantly springs to mind.

There are some free CV services out there that offer free CV advice to attract customers. The advice they give is usually not constructive and largely consists of criticism. The feedback they give is designed to make you think your CV is bad and needs a lot of work on it. They will then offer to fix it for you- at a cost.

The CVs that have been brought to us are often of a good standard and one of our advisers can usually offer you the advice you need to bring it up to scratch in a half hour session which costs just £47.

Alternatively you can submit it online through our website and one of our advisers will offer you constructive feedback and advice- this is not a free service, it’s £40- but it will provide you with the support and advice you need: http://www.c2careers.com/eguidance.aspx
